Kaysville Has Space. We Know What to Do With It.

Kaysville is one of those Northern Utah communities where the lots are big enough to actually do something with. We're not talking about cramming a patio into a postage stamp — we're talking about properties with half an acre to several acres, many of them with horses, mature fruit trees, irrigated pasture, and views east toward the Wasatch and west toward the lake. That scale of project plays to our strengths.

A lot of what we do in Kaysville is comprehensive outdoor living design — not just a patio, but a coordinated outdoor environment. Fire pit area with paver surround, pergola pad, concrete driveway approach, boulder retaining wall on the slope behind the house, xeriscape conversion in the front yard to save water. We've done that full package on Kaysville properties more than once, and it's the kind of project our crew genuinely enjoys because you can see the transformation.

Horse properties have their own requirements. Fencing intersects with landscaping, irrigation gets complicated, and you have to think carefully about hardscape near animal areas — drainage from paddocks and corrals matters, and concrete aprons around gates and high-traffic zones hold up better than decomposed granite in that kind of use. We've worked on equestrian properties throughout Davis County and understand how those functional requirements shape the design.

East bench Kaysville — the areas up toward the foothills and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail — tends to have better-draining soil and more dramatic grade changes. That means retaining walls are common, and the views from up there justify putting investment into outdoor living spaces that take advantage of the elevation. A well-placed paver patio and fire pit area on a bench property in Kaysville gets used constantly on warm evenings.

Davis County Bench Terrain and Valley Transition

Kaysville sits on the eastern slope of the Wasatch Front's Davis County section, with terrain that transitions from irrigated valley floor to rocky bench. The bench soils drain reasonably well but require assessment for depth to hardpan before spec'ing base systems for patios and drives. We pull a lot of rock on east Kaysville jobs — it's not unusual to hit significant rock layers well within the patio excavation depth, which affects schedule and equipment choices.

EC Scaping is based in Hooper, Utah — right in the middle of the Weber-Davis County market we serve. We\'re not a Salt Lake City contractor stretching north to fill capacity. Kaysville is our territory, and we\'ve built enough projects here to know what works and what doesn\'t in this specific environment.

  • Utah Climate Expertise

Over a decade of building in Northern Utah's freeze-thaw climate. We spec base depth, drainage, and materials for where we are, not a generic national standard.

  • Honest, Detailed Estimates

We price jobs accurately the first time. What we quote is what you pay — no low-ball bids followed by change orders that get you where they planned to be all along.

  • Licensed & Insured

Utah contractor's license, full general liability, and workers' comp on every project. Our credentials are available on request before any contract is signed.

Kaysville Landscape & Hardscape — FAQ

Yes, large-lot projects are something we handle regularly. We approach multi-acre properties in phases — prioritizing the areas around the home first, then addressing the larger property over time as budget allows. We'll give you a full-property concept so each phase builds toward a coherent end result.

Yes. We locate and mark existing irrigation before any excavation and work around it wherever possible. If a line needs to be relocated, we handle that as part of the project scope. Keeping existing irrigation intact saves you money and avoids starting a separate project.

It depends on height, load, and aesthetic. Boulder walls look great on larger rural lots and handle significant height in the right conditions. Concrete block (CMU or engineered block) gives you more precision and is required above certain heights by engineering standards. We'll recommend based on your specific site after the assessment.

Yes, and Kaysville is a great candidate for xeriscape conversion given Davis County's water rates and the HOA restrictions that are common in the area. We design xeriscape front yards that look intentional and attractive — not just a gravel dump. Native and low-water species that are appropriate for zone 5-6 conditions.

Grade transitions at the street are common in Kaysville, especially on bench lots. We engineer the approach slope to meet ADA and local driveway grade standards, use compacted base to stabilize the transition, and pour or set the surface appropriately for the vehicle load. If there's a significant elevation change, we may include a small retaining wall at the street grade.

Some Kaysville subdivisions have HOAs with landscape and hardscape standards — material restrictions, height limits on walls, and front yard requirements. We work within HOA guidelines regularly and can help you navigate the approval process if your project requires it. It's something we flag early in the planning conversation.

My husband and I are very pleased with the project that EC Landscaping completed at our home. They took out over 6000 sqft of grass, replacing it with different types of rock, flower beds, pathway, and drip system. One of the reasons we chose them is because of their excellent communication with us, which they maintained throughout the project. Their quote was also significantly lower than 2 other bids we received. We were impressed by the dedicated and hard working crew. We expected the project to take 2 weeks, but they completed it in 7 days, showing up by 7 am and working past 5 pm every day. It is refreshing to work with a company that cares about their clients and takes pride in their work. Two of our existing trees showed signs of stress due to the work done around them. When I contacted EC Landscaping about my concern over them, I didn't think they would respond. I was wrong. They came out to see what was going on with my trees and made some adjustments to maintain their health. I would recommend EC Landscaping in a heartbeat.

Thomas and his team from EC Landscaping LLC just finished a project for us at our home in Eden Utah! Our project was small - a concrete pad for our utility trailer, a new front walkway and stairs (replacing the existing paver stones), a beautiful tiered natural stone flower bed and a new stone and masonry mailbox pedestal. Also refreshed some of our existing landscaping with stone borders and natural bark mulch. Thomas worked with us every step of the way and provided samples and ideas. He was receptive to changing the tiered flower bed from a rustic block to natural stone to better fit the rest of the neighborhood. He was professional, knowledgeable and helped us work within our budget. The concrete trailer pad was cracked during construction of the stone flower bed and EC Landscaping replaced the entire pad at no extra charge!
The team on site were the hardest working group ever; they knew what they were doing, answered questions, were friendly and cleaned up daily. They completed the project in 5 days - from demolition to final product. Team lead and stone mason was an artist - the tiered stone flower bed and mailbox pedestal are incredible! Our neighbors have stopped to compliment the work.
My husband and I are thrilled with our beautiful new yard from EC Landscaping!

I was excited when I got home from Spokane and saw my driveway. They did a great job and made it unique. Everything was left clean, and they also redid the sprinklers and brought top soil to put around them and the grass. Love the way you raked the squares in a different direction. I'll make sure and recommend your company especially for the expertise and customer satisfaction you put into it.

EC Landscaping replaced 3 failing retaining walls, made step access to my upper yard, and came up with an idea to give me a raised bed front border for my property in Hyrum. I couldn’t be more pleased. There were two crews who communicated with me, worked long days, cleaned up after themselves, and were kind to my dog.

We would highly recommend them and would definitely use them again for future projects.

EC was punctual with their scheduling and very upfront regarding not starting the concrete portion of the job until the weather was such that we could ensure proper setting time. They also helped me solve some challenging drainage issues throughout my landscaping project. They were able to get a shorter than standard custom gate to match my existing fence and mount it. They connected me with a reasonable curbing company since they did not have the machine to lay custom curbing. I had several bids but EC gave me the most detail in their bid to help ensure there were no surprises with the final invoice. I would definitely consider EC for any future jobs.
